The diagram above is interesting and kind of cute, but I have a question for everyone. Is anyone else 2 or more of these geeks at the same time? — Thought so. 😉
I hope I’m not the only geek that feels as if I’m being tugged in several different directions when it comes to hobbies, interests, and life in general. I think as geeks we feel strongly about multiple things in life. Sure, some of us have one thing we are intensely passionate about, but geeks are most certainly multifaceted. This makes something as simple as choosing what to do on our day off a tad frustrating.
I.E.: “Should I read my new book or play that video game? Paint or go outside for a walk? Go shopping, or sketch?” – Britney’s Inner Dialogue
Why am I thinking about how to balance my life? Well, my boyfriend made a statement a couple of days ago that has my wheels turning.
He said, “It’s hard — I have to keep up with your geeky side and your girly side.”
I laughed when he said that. It’s most definitely true. The unfortunate thing for him is that those are only two sides of my multifaceted geek personality. It would be insane to try to stereotype me into any one category. In fact, it’d look something like this:
City born, country raised, video game playing, book reading, nature loving, pet addicted, painting, drawing, dancing, social drinking, culture fascinated, card game playing, make up and dress wearing, shopping fanatic, sports watching.. And ok, I give up.
Question is, how in the world does one balance the facets of their geeky personality?
To this day I am trying to figure this one out. Most of the time I end up looking like one of those people that can never stick with one hobby or see one thing through. That’s not the case at all. So far, my interests have been on a constantly revolving wheel. I spin it, pick something, go with it for a while, then spin the wheel again. It’s not as though I will never come back to it or that I’ve lost interest.
Theory #1 – The Revolving Wheel
Like I’ve said, spin the wheel to an interest, take it up, engage it, put it back, and spin again.
This is all I’ve got, folks. I’ve toyed with some other ideas.. like scheduling set times to do certain things on certain days during the week. I suppose if one was more structured that may work out.
I really want to know what everyone has to say about this. This is less of a stated piece and more or a, “Tell me what you think!” Please? Lol.
On a girlier note, I dyed my hair. Due to Autumn rolling around, I went redder which tends to suit my paler skin and green eyes. Can anyone say Scottish? It does run in my blood, peoples. Hope y’all like it!
