June 2014 marks my first LOOTCRATE! Cheers!
What can I say? I came across Lootcrate by chance and instantaneously had to have it! I even went as far as to go to my Ipsy and cancel my spot on the waitlist. (For those girls who don’t know: www.ipsy.com – Go now!)
So I don’t have any special unveiling for everyone like what I’m seeing around the interwebs. I think there are plenty of videos to watch if you’d like to watch people open their special little boxes. However, I did take a few pictures of what the Lootcrate contains.
June’s Transform Lootcrate:
- Marty Mcprime Transformer T-shirt
- Transformers figurine collectable – Hasbro & The Loyal Subjects
- Transformers sticker – Hasbro & The Loyal Subjects
- Hex Bug: Transformer Edition
- MLG (Major League Gaming) wrist warmer
- MLG Team Sticker Set – TeamENVY, TeamCURSE, TeamOPTIC
- MLG Starter Kit – 1 month free GameBattles Premium Access
- Lootcrate June Button
- Lootcrate June Booklet
- 3 Warheads
I was pretty stoked when I opened my Transformers figurine box. I got friggin’ Bumblebee!
.. And also, a Decepticons sticker. Sort of clashes.
All in all, I was pretty happy with all the items that I received in the June Lootcrate.
I just had one complaint. The t-shirt that I ordered was a shapeless square t-shirt. Now, I chose my size under the “Women’s” category so I was kind of expecting a more fitted flattering shirt for a woman’s body. The shirt was not that. It was a box. It made me a box.
I digress. Let me just say that Lootcrate is awesome and if you haven’t had the chance to subscribe, stop making excuses. Go. Go now and subscribe. I have a feeling that each Lootcrate will remind you how good of an investment that this monthly subscription is. I mean, who doesn’t love a goody box filled with geeky merchandise?
Oh, and for everyone’s entertainment.. Let me introduce you to my cat, Iris, and her first experience with a Hex Bug.
Have a great Saturday!
I know I know it’s been forever since there’s been a new post I’ve been recovering from my tonsil/adenoidectomy which has been the roughest surgery of my life but I will do a whole post on that once I’m completely better. I wanted to do this post because once I started to make money of my own and could buy the things I wanted I found it difficult to find geeky merch so I’m just going to list the places I frequent for all that nerdy goodness. It’s not a long or in depth post just a short list.
Thinkgeek is a great site for gifts when it comes to Christmas or birthdays it is my go to. It has everything from cook books, caffeine products for those late night gamers, tee’s and things for your office or house. Whether you’re a zombie or star wars lover it has everything to suit your taste.
2. Hot Topic
I don’t know about you but Hot Topic really irks me for some reason. It’s not what it was when I was younger and I find it odd that there are one direction items for sale there. Not sure why but it bothers me anyway this is where I get most of my anime shirts. You just have to be on the look out for the good ones I’ve seen many meh shirts but I have gotten some pretty awesome Naruto shirts that aren’t of the chibi variety not that there is anything wrong with chibi but sometimes I want badass battle scene shirts. Also they have a good variety of Harry Potter, pokemon and some decent gaming shirts. This isn’t geeky but it’s also where I get most of my band shirts for the older original style like rhcp and things like that.
I have gotten a shirt from etsy but I haven’t bought personally anything geeky from this site but while I’m bored I do like to “window shop” and you can find very unique items and most are handmade. Support small business!
I have bought so many shirts from teefury that I’ve lost count. For the price you can’t beat it and you won’t usually find another person with the same shirt or I haven’t yet anyway. I’ve gotten many Harry Potter, Zelda, Final Fantasy, pokemon and even the goonies shirts. Sometimes it does take awhile to get your shirt but I mean you’ve lived your whole life without is thus far and it’s incredibly cheap for the quality I don’t mind waiting.
These are all I can think of for now but if I think of any more I will add to this post and I hope you found it helpful. 🙂
I had the privilege of getting to collaborate with my boyfriend’s beautiful and wonderful cousin Paige. She does such good work and I am so happy to have been photographed by her and her blog is wonderful as well it’s paigelyse.blogspot please give her blog a look.
I have always loved Alice. Ariel is my favorite princess but Alice isn’t a princess. She’s like me and you just trying to escape the everyday.
My Alice sweater is from Forever 21 and so is the spike headband. My big green glitzy ring is from sorrelli and the other is a charm I got from hobby lobby. If you would like to see a makeup tutorial for this just let me know in the comments below. I hope you enjoyed this and as always thank you so much for supporting Britney and I 🙂 -Kelly
No tutorial today just wanted to share my headband that I fixed. I got it from hot topic online it originally had crystals on it but they looked really wonky so I used my wood burner to carefully remove them and hot glued the pearls on. Sorry about the lack of posts lately Britney and I have been very busy but will be posting more very soon! Also look forward to my Ariel storylook palette tutorial on Monday. Hope everyone is having a great weekend 🙂 -Kelly
I picked up this pretty little quad the other weekend and wanted to do a look with it. I love corals in summer it makes me think of the beach and I like that the colors compliment my red hair 🙂
I first started by priming my eyes. I always use benefit stay don’t stray primer along with my mac paint pot in painterly. On top of that I just used a matte salmon pink color .
After that I used the orange coral shade on the outer portion of my eyelid and blended it towards the center. With a stiff brush I picked up the color and swept out the outer corner slightly past my eye and with a pencil brush I took the color under my lower lash line stopping halfway.
Then I took the darkest color with a fluffy brush and pushed it into my crease. I also packed a little in the outer corner and blended it then took the pencil brush again under my lower lash line right on top of the other color.
Here I put a matte pale yellow lining around my tear duct meeting the coral shade in the center on my lower lash line then packed a shimmery pale gold on top of that. I used the matte yellow shade as the highlight on my brow bone and blended it with the other colors to take out any excess darkness and soften harsh lines. I also patted a small amount of the shimmery gold shade right in the center of my eyelid and blended.
Now just add your mascara and eyeliner and you’re done 🙂 If you would like to see how I do my eyeliner like this in depth I have a tutorial of that on here. For my cheeks I used Maybelline bouncy blush in peach satin. I usually use benefit high beam for my highlight but today I used benefit sunbeam to give my face a little more warmth and on my lips I’m wearing mac cream sheen lipstick in sunny Seoul. The three eyeshadows I used not from this palette are from my Ariel storylook palette which I will do a tutorial using it very soon and those are the two matte shades and the pale shimmery gold. My mascara is a combination of Maybelline the falsies and benefit bad gal lash.
Thank you for reading and I hope you find this helpful 🙂 -Kelly
I was sitting at work today thinking of what topic should I post about tonight and then I realized I haven’t discussed books yet. I, like all my fellow geeks am an avid reader. I truly love to read and in different formats. I do own a nook tablet and the size of the screen is perfect for reading manga and if I want to read a particular book I do not own and have no time to purchase it in store I like that I can have it right when I want it. I also use it to decide if I really loved the book I will purchase a hard coy to keep on the shelf with my others and if I didn’t care for it then I won’t worry with it While the nook is handy nothing beats a real book. Ones with aged yellow pages and a scent that I wish I could bottle .
My love affair with books began when I was little and my favorite book was The Wind in the Willows. It will always have a special place in my heart. I can remember going to a book fair at school when I was in the second grade and while most kids were buying coloring books and those wacky science experiment kits to play with I had had my eye on this book that was supposed to be a fictional diary by a young Cleopatra. I was obsessed with Egypt so I begged my mom for the money for the book and very excitedly I purchased the book along with bookmark with a beautiful tassel on it. I felt so grown up. Now that I’m older and have many many more under my belt I’ve read some books that have left me with a meh feeling and others that have left me awestruck and awakened my soul. I’ve mourned the loss of many fictional characters and for others at the end of a series sat back like a proud parent. When I read I feel like Harry approaching the pensieve. I turn slowly to the first page then plunge face first letting the scenes envelope me as a movie reel plays in my mind.
I’m not sure how many others do this but I often envision myself as the heroine of a story. When I read these lovely stories I’m not just the girl that gets up for work every morning to go to the same job day after day doing the same routine. In these books I’ve battled dark elves, I’ve ridden dragons, I’ve lead rebellions but most importantly I’ve gone on adventures.
I can’t imagine my life without books. Without them I wouldn’t have learned of all these emotions within me to be able to feel something so deep.
To all of the wonderful authors out there please continue to do all that you do and thank you for taking me on adventures I never thought possible. Thank you. -Kelly
