Product Reviews

I am reviewing a few new products I have recently gotten. The top two pictured above I received in my May ipsy bag. For those that don’t know ipsy is a monthly subscription service for 10 dollars a month you receive a new cosmetic bag and 4-5 products. I love this because it opens me up to new brands that I might not try or typically purchase. I do like to use it to decide if I would like to purchase a full sized version of the product if I liked it.

The first product I got to try is the eva nyc therapy session hair mask. I immediately loved the way it smelled. It’s almost like a perfume but not too overpowering. I never blow dry my hair unless I’m in a hurry or during the colder months since I do dye my hair often I try to use as little heat as possible. After using it for the first time once my hair was dry there was a very noticeable difference in the overall softness of my hair. So anything that smells amazing and makes my hair baby soft is a winner for me.

pr3

So I now have the full size purchased from Ulta along with the oil treatment that it recommends. The oil has the same scent as the hair mask and it doesn’t make my hair greasy after applying. It also protects your hair if you do use heat. I love these products and will definitely be getting them again in the future. The only complaint I have is it doesn’t help when it comes to tangles. My hair is very long all the way down my back and it tangles quite easy. Usually when using a hair mask treatment it is very easy to comb out my hair afterwards but it almost feels as though I didn’t use any conditioner at all. But as I said my hair does come out incredibly soft after it is completely dry. Much softer than with any other mask I have tried. So it does take a bit more time combing through but it’s worth it for the results for me. I think someone with much shorter hair wouldn’t have this problem.

The second product I got in my bag that I fell in love with is the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer. Again with the smell of things this smells like a delicious chocolate bar. Reason being is that it is infused with coco powder how cool is that!? It is so smooth and even on my pale skin it looks very nice not muddy and blends perfectly. This product made me want the Too Faced Chocolate Bar eyeshadow palette.

pr2 pr1

The colors in this palette are gorgeous and so very wearable. You can do office appropriate day looks or a beautiful smokey eye for night. The eyeshadows also have a wonderful chocolate scent to them. There are 16 shades several of them are matte while the others have a nice shimmer. Two of the shades are larger as you can see in the picture the top is matte and the bottom is a shimmer and works great as a highlighter for your face. I have no complaints for this palette. You get such a variety of colors from golds to pinks and rich browns. You can get this palette for slightly cheaper than any of the urban decay naked palettes and you get more shades. I love my naked palettes but this one is right there with them. The shadow is so smooth just like the bronzer and blends so effortlessly. I look forward to doing looks with this palette for you guys soon!

If you have tried any of these products let me know your thoughts on them I always love feedback πŸ™‚

Lorde Royals Eye Makeup

royals17 royals16

I have been obsessed with Royals by Lorde since I first heard it come on the radio and late one night my boyfriend was flipping through the channels on the tv and the video for the song was on. I hadn’t seen the video before and I was immediately drawn to her eye makeup so I decided to do my own rendition I hope you find this helpful if you are looking for a similar look πŸ™‚

royals1

First I recommend doing all of your face makeup afterwards because it will be difficult to clean up the darker eyeshadow shades. All I’ve done here is primed my eyes with my mac paint pot in painterly and used walk of shame from my naked basics palette all over my lid.

royals2

On top of that I put Loreal infallible in iced latte.

royals3

In the outer corner going in about a third of the way using a stiff brush i patted maybelline color tattoo in pomegranate punk.

royals4

Then using maybelline line stiletto liquid liner make the line as thin as you can extending just slightly past your tear duct (it elongates your eyes).

royals5

Now Ive switched to maybelline gel liner using a thin brush make a flick upward as though you were going to make an extreme cat eye stopping about where the peak of crease is. Then drag the line to the center across.

royals6

Here I’ve just taken a pencil brush and sprayed it with mac fix plus and smudged the gel liner.

royals7

There areΒ  several steps here. On top of pomegranate punk I took South from my urban decay Glinda palette and just patted it on top any taupe shade will do. Then I took Crave from my naked basics palette and went back over where the gel liner was smudged while defining the point while I did this. I also sprayed my brush with the fix plus while using Crave. Then I put it under my lower lash line.

royals8

You can cut your crease a bit more if you like as I’ve done or you can leave it in the center. I just put a bit more of iced latte in the center of my lid and put Venus from the naked basics palette on my inner corner and I put Foxy from the same palette on my brow bone. Then just add your favorite mascara I’m using a combination of benefit bad gal lash and maybelline big eyes.

royals9

And you’re done πŸ™‚

For my lips I used a combination of revlon nude attitude and mac saint germaine with a little bit of gloss. My blush is laura geller in pink buttercream and my highlight is benefit high beam. If anything is confusing don’t hesitate to ask questions. Thank you for reading and if you try out this look I would love to see it or let me know how it worked for you πŸ™‚ -Kelly

Sephora Ariel Storylook Palette

Ariel2

Sorry it’s taken me so long to get this up but I am so happy to share this palette with you guys. Ariel is my favorite princess of them all it may just be the fantasy involved but I’ve always had an affinity for the ocean and try my hardest to get that long flowing red hair. I don’t believe this palette is available anymore but a smaller compact still is. Anyway onto the tutorial πŸ™‚

Ariel3

I didn’t do my face makeup first like I normally do because I didn’t want the eyeshadow falling on my cheeks and messing it up. First I just primed my eyes as usual with my mac paint pot in painterly and used the shade flounder all over my lid.

Ariel 4

Then I used the gold shade triton and just packed it over my lid. There is chunky glitter in this one and it got all over my cheeks so I’m glad I didn’t do my face makeup first.

Ariel5

This is optional it’s the only color I used outside of the palette and it’s actually a blush it’s maybelline fit me blush in the shade medium coral. I don’t think it really made a difference in the colorings in the end.

Ariel6

Here I used the shade flotsam it’s a dark shimmery navy color and I just put that in the outer corner and worked it into my crease.

Ariel7

This is few steps. Under my lower waterline I used the color blue lagoon stopping about a third of the way. In my inner corner I’m not sure why it looks blue here it may be the lighting but it’s actually a pearl color I used the shade seashells. then on the inner part of my lower waterline where blue lagoon stops I used the shade triton with a pencil brush. and the shade flounder again on my brow bone.

Ariel8

Then I just finished up with my usual downward winged liner and I put a bit of gold liner from hard candy in the color dream girl on top of triton on my lower lash line to make it pop a bit better and put it directly above my black upper liner then I just put the shade scuttle on top of seashell in my inner corner because i felt it lacked a bit. After that my mascara which is my usual benefit bad gal and I combined the new big eyes by maybelline and put my face makeup on. On my lips I used Nyx matte shocking pink lipstick I just lightly patted it on and put a clear gloss on top and on my cheeks is combo of Mac so sweet so easy and a baked blush by laura geller and benefit highbeam for a highlight and benefit hoola for my contour. If anything is confusing please don’t hesitate to ask me questions. Overall I love this palette all of the shades are so fun my only complaint would be that I would have liked more contouring shades.

Ariel1

These nails I did were inspired by the palette the colors are sally hansen blue me away and the accent is wide awake by pure ice. I love that I live so close to the beach and shells like this one fill my house. If you would like to see more pictures like the one of my nails or sneak peeks of blog posts you can follow my personal instagram @kellyelizabeth_89 πŸ™‚ Thank you so much for reading and Britney and I have much more for you guys coming soon so look forward to it and please continue to support us! -Kelly

Coral Oasis

CO1

I picked up this pretty little quad the other weekend and wanted to do a look with it. I love corals in summer it makes me think of the beach and I like that the colors compliment my red hair πŸ™‚

CO2

I first started by priming my eyes. I always use benefit stay don’t stray primer along with my mac paint pot in painterly. On top of that I just used a matte salmon pink color .

CO3

After that I used the orange coral shade on the outer portion of my eyelid and blended it towards the center. With a stiff brush I picked up the color and swept out the outer corner slightly past my eye and with a pencil brush I took the color under my lower lash line stopping halfway.

CO4

Then I took the darkest color with a fluffy brush and pushed it into my crease. I also packed a little in the outer corner and blended it then took the pencil brush again under my lower lash line right on top of the other color.

CO6

Here I put a matte pale yellow lining around my tear duct meeting the coral shade in the center on my lower lash line then packed a shimmery pale gold on top of that. I used the matte yellow shade as the highlight on my brow bone and blended it with the other colors to take out any excess darkness and soften harsh lines. I also patted a small amount of the shimmery gold shade right in the center of my eyelid and blended.

CO7

Now just add your mascara and eyeliner and you’re done πŸ™‚ If you would like to see how I do my eyeliner like this in depth I have a tutorial of that on here. For my cheeks I used Maybelline bouncy blush in peach satin. I usually use benefit high beam for my highlight but today I used benefit sunbeam to give my face a little more warmth and on my lips I’m wearing mac cream sheen lipstick in sunny Seoul. The three eyeshadows I used not from this palette are from my Ariel storylook palette which I will do a tutorial using it very soon and those are the two matte shades and the pale shimmery gold. My mascara is a combination of Maybelline the falsies and benefit bad gal lash.

Make-Up Favorites

For today’s post I wanted to put together all of my favorite products. Britney and I usually do eye makeup tutorials but don’t really show what we use on a daily basis. I work full time in an office and I have to look appropriate and I’m not a morning person at all so I like an easy routine for my daily work makeup so everything I’m showing you is work friendly and really great products I highly recommend.

1.L’oreal Magic Beautifier BB Cream in Light

w1

This is my favorite BB cream and since I have fair skin I use the light. I’ve tried other BB creams like the Stila HD beauty balm and one by smashbox but I wasn’t very impressed and was irritated because they were very expensive. This one goes on white and as you rub it in to your skin it changes to skin tone. I use this everyday I have combination oily/dry skin and on my dry spots this is great for flaky skin it feels as though it’s also exfoliating when you put it on. The only complaint I have is that it comes in such a small tube but it’s very good for the price.

2.Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow in Petal

w12

I love this foundation! I was using Mac face and body I can’t remember the shade of it but I need something with a little more coverage and this is perfect. It goes on so smooth and stays put all day long. I usually have shine peek through half way through the day had much less after using this foundation. I’m not saying that will happen for everyone but it works very well for me. It is pricy but I feel worth it. Overall very good quality.

3.Mac Creamblend Blush in So Sweet So Easy

w11

If you’re looking for that perfect dolly pink blush this is it. Most blush that I have tried either has too much of a red tone or it’s too baby pink that it doesn’t show up very well but this is wonderful on my skin.

4.Mac Studio Finish Concealer in NW20

dksjflkas

My go to concealer everyday it has really great coverage.

5.Hard Candy Lite Bright Whipped Brightening Concealer in Medium

w10

This is perfect for dark circles under eyes and just brightening up your face for a fresh faced look.

6.Benefit High Beam

w3

Best illuminating highlighter I’ve tried. For a while I didn’t like liquid highlighters because I felt it smudged my makeup underneath when applying it but this doesn’t. It goes on perfectly a creates a beautiful glow.

7.Benefit Hoola Bronzer

w2

I use this for contouring my face I like that it’s matte so you don’t have added shimmer where you don’t want it. It’s very universal and works well with my fair skin.

8.Elf Brow Kit in Medium

w9

I use this kit everyday it’s lasted me a long time and is a very good product and is so cheap. It comes with a good little brush I mainly just use the gel when I’m in a hurry but the powder is very nice too.

9.Nyx Wonder Pencil

w6

If you’ve seen any of my tutorials you know I use this on my lower water line. It looks more natural as opposed to using a white eyeliner. It makes your eyes look wide and bright and you look well rested.

10.Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

w8

This is so great for work because it looks so natural. I had been looking for good matte eyeshadows and was so happy when Urban Decay came out with this palette. You can create so many looks with it like a bright eyed day look to a night smokey eye.

11.Maybelline Eyestudio Gel Liner in Blackest Black

w4

My first experience with gel liner. I used to only use liquid but I always have a cat eye and have heard that gel is the best for it. I didn’t care for the brush it came with it’s a little too big to create thin lines but the gel is very good and perfect color black.

12.Maybelline Falsies Mascara

w5

I love how long and full my lashes look with this mascara and it’s fairly cheap. My only complaint is that it dries out rather quickly.

13.Mac Lipstick in Peach Blossom

w7

Last is lipstick. This wasn’t the shade I was expecting I had bought it online but I really love it. The feel of it is nice and the color is a pretty nude rose color.

Well those are my favorite products at the moment thank you as always for reading πŸ™‚

Flower Garden Eyes (Make-Up Tutorial)

Today is Make-Up Monday! πŸ™‚ I decided that I wanted to do a flower/garden type look with rose colors and greens. I sort of experimented the whole way through so forgive me if some steps include a little more.

Step 1

I put on foundation, powder, and blush before.

First step is applying an eye shadow base. I use Urban Decay‘s.

Step 2

Image

Apply a light lavender or pink to the inside corners of your eyes and beneath your brows.

Step 3

Image

Apply light green to your eyelid.

Step 4

Image

Blend a light golden brown and dark golden brown above the green.

Step 5

Image

At the outside corner of your eye on your eyelid, I blended in a dark green. Right above that I blended in a dark purple.

Step 6

Image

Apply orange in between the dark purple and the lavender for a pop of color.

Step 7

step8bottomliner

Take a fine tipped brush and apply your eye shadow base to your bottom lid. Clean the brush. Take that brush and apply dark purple from your tear duct to just past the circle of your eye. From there, apply dark green to the outer corner. I chose to go further to create a green wing of shadow.

Step 8

step9topliner

I wanted more color so I applied a medium purple in between the orange and the dark purple to blend it better and show more purple. I also drew a thin line of dark brown liquid liner across the top eyelid and arched it at the end for a small wing.

Step 9

step11finalmakeup

Add Mascara!

I hope you like it!

I decided to play it up some more by curling my hair in tight coils, adding lipstick, and a very cute rosy pink dress I bought at Ross.

The gallery below has the pictures that I took after!
