Meet Kelly

Hi! My name is Kelly. I was born in and raised in Texas, but moved away when I was sixteen. I went to school in a very small town the same town as Britney and Whitney. Living in such a small rural place in the 90’s really shaped who I am and my love of the outdoors. You could hardly get me inside unless it was to play video games. I can clearly remember getting my first Game-Boy Color and I loved to play all of the old school Mario, Zelda, and my had first taste of Streetfighter on the Sega Genesis.

We’ve all gotten older and our fandoms, while still slightly the same, have grown. I still love video games and I read at every possible chance I get. Reading manga is my biggest obsession. That opened me up to watching k-dramas and led me to my love of k-pop. I am also extremely girly in the sense that I am beyond obsessed with make-up and fashion; all of those wonderful things that make being a girl so fun. I also love to draw when I’m able. You can view my drawings on the Geeky ‘n Girly Facebook page or on my personal deviant art account: kellzkitteh.

You can also follow me on instagram @kellyelizabeth_89, where I will typically have sneak peeks of makeup tutorials that I’m working on. 🙂

  1. Girls after my own heart. 🙂 My sister and I grew up gaming–introduced to it by my mother and female cousin (chock-full of girl nerds in my family!) who would spend entire nights burning through games on the NES. Later we got into N64, Playstation, Playstation 2 etc. Love whipping out oldies-but-goodies like Crash Bandicoot, Abe’s Odyssey, and the FF8 now when work/real life get too stressful. I’m more into writing books now than playing video games (had to make a time choice, ugh). How about you guys? Do you write?

    • I had a feeling I was hitting the nail on head in terms of geekiness when I discovered your blog. My parents had already purchased an NES before I was born so I definitely grew up with video games. I was the only girl in my family, but that never bothered me. I had an older brother and all boy cousins, and all of them were into games. It was awesome. 🙂 — I have attempted a few times to start books, but I do love to write. I’ve written poetry, short stories, and now this blog is my writing and creative outlet. It helps a lot!

I know exactly what you mean about time choices. I actually wrote about that on my “Balancing a Geeky Life” post, haha. Tough choices.

And thank you for following us! I look forward to conversations and such between all of us.
